GOOD MUSIC PRODUCTIONS and the BRITISH COUNCIL are pleased to invite You to a unique music industry event – NEW DIRECTIONS 2 - International Music Industry Meeting

 

15-16 October 2009, Centralny Basen Artystyczny, Warsaw, Poland

 

This meeting is a follow-up to the first edition of the conference which focused on international music industry. The last event brought together people of various achievements and experience in the music industry, experts and newcomers who had just started their music journey and were looking for opportunities. Once again we will invite international guests that will show mechanisms and procedures of marketing and promotion which proved to be successful in their countries and could be helpful for European Artists. 

 

This time we will be focusing on the influence that inner city festivals and music events have on the urban structure. How they add up to the brand of the city and activate the creative sector within a given metropolis. We will bring together practitioners connected with the music industry, music entrepreneurs as well as city council officials and representatives of European structures.

 

The conference will take place as part of Creative Cities (http://creativecities.britishcouncil.org). This international project run by the British Council aims to explore new ways of improving the quality of life in urban communities. It is a forum for debates on the role that creativity, entrepreneurship and innovation play in urban development, accompanied by practical examples of creative events.

 

The event will also involve elements of creative economy that approaches the arts as a business which can both sustain individual artists and lead to wealth creation in the economy of European cities. This will also serve as a networking platform for all the music entrepreneurs involved in British Council’s International Young Creative Entrepreneur scheme (http://www.creativeconomy.org.uk) across the region.

 

Meetings will take the form of subject sessions with European speakers invited to present various aspects connected of the local and international music industry improving cities and their attractiveness as well as functionality. This meeting is intended as a forum open for debate as well as a platform of sharing good practice.

 

This exceptional music forum will enable all participants:

-to learn about the current and new, developing trends and procedures in the European music industry;

-to understand contemporary issues regarding creation, promotion and realization process of cultural undertakings in urban environment;

-to meet and take part in discussion with international experts and officials;

-to get answers to important questions and learn alternative solutions to various problems of young European influencers, entrepreneurs and artists;

-to establish new and refresh old valuable contacts with interesting people connected with the issue;

-to impress potential clients and create possibilities of European cooperation.

 

During this year’s conference the invited speakers will present crucial issues and discuss challenging ideas about the role creativity, innovation and entrepreneurship in city life and the way impact the image of the city.

Sessions will cover the following subjects:

- European cities festival – presentations of festivals

- city events, music festivals as platforms to promote cities/ developing city brands; benefits and changes in the city

- European/ local structures support

- practical approaches

- networking and discussions

- and more

 

 

 

Owing to the support of the British Council, the registration fee is symbolic. Participants can choose from two options:

conference admission fee (2 days) – 60 PLN;

conference admission fee plus 2 day pass for FREE FORM FESTIVAL – 190 PLN.

 

The conference admission fee includes briefing materials plus free hot and cold drinks, and snacks.

Please be precise as the information given in the registration form will be used to make participant list which will be checked at the venue;

 

Registration and distribution of badges will take place at the venue, daily from 8:30 to 9:30 am on the basis of IDs.

 

 

Accommodation is not included in the admission fee. On the registration form you can tick an appropriate option to receive information on recommended hotels.

NEW DIRECTIONS conference will accompany the 5^th edition of Free Form Festival – Contemporary Music and Audiovisual Arts held on  16^th to 17^th of October 2009 in the Artistic Centre of Culture Koneser.

 

Free Form Festival presents fresh and independent music and arts in urban surroundings, both international and local. This year’s programme includes various music events: gigs, DJ sets, live-acts, audio visual presentations, films, documentaries, reports and young design exhibitions.

Within 2 days over 10 international artists, stars of electronic scene and local talents will perform at the festival.
